A .pub attachment can look like an ordinary file in Mail or Files while still needing a Publisher parser. The iPhone preview does not become a Publisher reader merely because the file has downloaded. How do you open and preserve the file?

What free options are available?
The simplest free route is to ask the author for a PDF made in Publisher, if they can still open the file. Microsoft recommends converting existing publications before Microsoft 365 subscribers lose Publisher access on 1 October 2026.
